OUR STORY
Welcome. I am Zari Kazandjian, founder, artist, and educator at Mon Studio Art.
I have been creating art for as long as I can remember, with a lifelong passion for painting and drawing. Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s degree in Art Education, where I explore, process-oriented approaches to teaching and learning in the arts.
When I was in first grade, my teacher often caught me hiding behind the lid of my desk, opening and closing it in an attempt to conceal whatever I was working on. One day, her curiosity got the better of her. Without interrupting the lesson, she slowly made her way to my desk. Just as I went to close the lid, she reached out and stopped it.
To her amazement, and delight she discovered a drawing of a horse tucked inside.
Later, she called my mother and invited us to her home for tea. She excitedly told my mom that one day I would become a famous artist, and when that day came, she hoped to be interviewed.
All grown up (but not famous …yet?), I often think back to that kind teacher and the impact she had on my life. Because she saw something in me and nurtured it, I was set on a path toward art. Today, I carry that encouragement with me, and I’m grateful to be able to share it with all of you.
Through my work at Mon Studio Art, I strive to integrate creativity, care, and thoughtful pedagogy, supporting learners of all ages to engage deeply with art. I am committed to fostering an environment where curiosity, experimentation, and personal expression are at the center of the creative process.
My practice as an artist and educator is guided by the belief that art is not only a means of personal expression but also a way to connect, communicate, and inspire. I am excited to share my work and ideas with the community and to continue learning alongside those who engage with my studio and teaching.
