A Call for Equine Subjects

I'm seeking exceptional horses to photograph as reference for original oil paintings — horses with presence, character, and individuality. All breeds, colours, ages, and types are welcome.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR

Presence, over pedigree

  • Photographed naturally, without traditional tack

  • Comfortable standing quietly for photographs

  • Portraits, expressive moments, or movement — all welcome

  • All shapes, sizes, ages, and colours considered

  • Groomed and presented as they naturally are

  • For select horses: liberty, paddock movement, or relaxed cantering

My goal is to capture each horse's expression, temperament, and quiet presence — not to document a type.

HOW IT WORKS

From paddock to studio

A short visit

I'll arrange a time to photograph your horse where they're comfortable — usually under an hour, sometimes with a photographer alongside me for movement.

Studio reference

Photographs become reference material for original oil paintings, developed in the studio at my own pace.

Possible plein air study

When conditions and your horse's temperament allow, I may also work from life on site for a small study.
